ASA Publishes 'Striped Damage' Tool for ASA Collision Members
BEDFORD, TEXAS, April 6, 2009 - The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has announced another new tool to assist its members who specialize in collision repair. Under the leadership of Carroll Proctor of A.C. Proctor's Paint & Body Inc., in Augusta, Ga., ASA's Collision Division has created two Stripe Damage Sheets to assist repairers in photographing and documenting subtle or minute finish flaws and small dents on vehicles.
Similar to others being distributed around the industry, the ASA Stripe Damage Sheets are designed for use during the photographic process to help document damage on a vehicle for insurance companies and estimators.
"It is exciting to see such a simple tool that works and doesn't cost a lot of money. Especially during these times, it's important to document repairs and receive the correct compensation for those repairs," said Denise Caspersen, ASA Collision Division manager. "These ASA Stripe Sheets are another tool for ASA members that aids in accuracy and acquiring fair compensation."
The sheets are the latest addition to ASA's growing collection of collision tools designed to assist collision repair professionals in their day-to-day operations. Several communication fliers have been created to help ASA collision repair members educate their local insurance representatives and adjustors about correct procedures. These free documents include the "Repaired vs. New Panel," the "LKQ vs. New Panel" and the "Blend vs. New Panel" and the "Raw vs. Primed Bumper Cover" fliers. Other free items in ASA's Collision Division Toolbox include a Quarter Panel Refinish Operations flier, a customizable supplement form, a gross profit calculator and a refinish time worksheet, which is a companion piece to the "ASA Repaired vs. New Panel" flier. In addition, the "Reference Chart of Not-Included Operations When Installing New Replacement Parts" and the "Reference Chart of Not-Included Operations when Installing a Recyclable Part" are available for purchase at www.ASAstore.com.
The new Stripe Damage Sheets are available to members as downloadable PDF documents in the Members Only section of the ASA Web site (www.ASAshop.org). ASA members may access the Members Only section of the ASA Web site by using their six-digit member number and following the prompts in the top right section of the home page, then click on "Collision Division Toolbox." ASA members may contact the ASA membership department at (800) ASA-SHOP (272-7467), ext. 295, to acquire their membership number.
Nonmembers interested in joining the association or learning more about ASA's member benefits may contact ASA's membership department at (800) ASA-SHOP (272-7467), ext. 295. In addition, members and nonmembers are encouraged to access ASA's electronic benefits portfolio within ASA OnDemand, which can be downloaded from www.ASAOnDemand.com.
