Why this survey is so important:
The Techs Talk survey is designed to uncover insights into the perspectives, values, and experiences of aspiring technician students and new working technicians. The results of this study will enable industry, schools, and employers to adapt strategies to meet the evolving needs and desires of this up-and-coming workforce.
Most technician surveys today are heavily skewed by responses from GenX and Boomers. This survey aims to specifically gather insights from from GenZ future techs and new working techs within their first two years of employment. This will give our industry better data in building the workforce going forward and knowledge to address the crippling technician shortage.
Who Should Take the Survey:
- Technicians within their first two years of employment
- High school and post-secondary students enrolled in automotive, aviation, collision, diesel, restoration, welding, and other related programs
How You Can Help:
- Team Meeting: Gather your employees who fit the survey's criteria. Discuss the survey and how their feedback can drive positive changes in the industry. Make sure they know the answers will be anonymous.
- Incentives-based Participation: Offer pizza, additional break time, or other incentives to those who complete the survey.
- Leadership Endorsement: Have people in your shop to whom young technicians look up endorse the survey and encourage the qualifying technicians to fill it out.
