California Air Resources Board Updates Advanced Clean Cars Rules
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) released a draft Standardized Regulatory Impact Assessment (SRIA) for the Advanced Clean Cars II (ACCII) regulations. The SRIA assesses the economic impacts of a regulatory proposal.
CARB released the first set of ACC rulings in 2012 to control emissions from passenger vehicles. The regulations combined the control of smog-causing pollutants and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions into a single, coordinated package of regulations for vehicles through model year 2025.
The new package of regulations, ACC II, will apply to vehicles beyond the model year 2025 and attempt to set a standard to reach Governor Gavin Newsom's executive order goal that 100 percent of California sales of new passenger cars and trucks be zero-emission by 2023.
