Federal Trade Commission Takes Action Against Harley Davidson on Right to Repair
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is taking action against Harley-Davidson Motor Company and Westinghouse outdoor generator manufacturer MWE Investments, LLC for illegally restricting consumers' right to repair their purchased products. The FTC released an order today in response to a complaint alleging that the companies were enforcing illegal warranties that prohibited consumers from repairing their products with third-party goods or services.
This order comes after the FTC released "Nixing the Fix" a report to Congress on issues regarding the Right to Repair. The FTC has ordered Harley-Davidson and MWE Investments to fix their warranties to ensure that consumers retain the right to repair their products with third-party goods and services.
